As my son nears the end of his elementary school years, I’m sure some sappy post will happen on the Flight of the Seedling blog either this month, or next month. How can he be going into middle school???
Books/Stories
It’s time for me to take a look at the third and final installment of The Light Thrower series. I will read what I have, make additions, make edits, and hopefully come to a conclusion that makes me feel… Well, if not happy, then satisfied.
Book Festivals
The Gloucester Arts Festival Book Fair on April 19, 2025 was a fun day! Upon reading the final instructions the night before, I realized I was to be given a mic to introduce myself. My friend happened to be there at the the time this mortification happened–she said I did just fine. 🤪
I’m not great about speaking about my books. Then I wonder, why would anyone want to read them if I can’t even describe them?! Violet in particular is so complicated, and sooo close to me. It was an unintentional book, a therapeutic write that wrote itself. Add in details, the actual plot, the philosophy–it’s just a lot to try and summarize.
I’m on a waitlist for the Fredericksburg Book Festival in October. I hope to find a couple more places to showcase my work before the end of the year. I was told by another author at the festival to go to the bookstore in Colonial Williamsburg to offer up The Hauntings of DoG Street books… I’ll let you know if I muster the courage (& time!) to do that.
Here are some fascinating authors to check out that I met on the 19th: Carolyn Kreiter-Foronda, Dee Ouellette, and Kathy Kasunich.
