The Light Thrower

magical realism series – Books 1 & 2 released

Book Two, When Violet Took Flight

On Amazon in paperback or ebook, and other online retailers like Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, IndieBound, Walmart, IngramSpark and more.

Following the events of When Violet Got Bored, our characters remain enmeshed in battles of control, fate, free will and compliance. When Violet unwittingly finds herself fulfilling destiny, she makes a decision that may become all of their undoing.

While Bored had the magic of Potter, the complexity of Dupain-Cheng and the humor of Plum, Flight has the drive of Maximoff.

What would you do to protect the people you love?

We also learn what happens to Grayson! Will Violet and Nathan ever get together? Will these stinkin’ prophecies come true? And, jeez, would the bad guys–and the good bad guys–just leave this battle rest?

Spanning twenty years, and tonally different than the first novel, find out what happens When Violet Took Flight.

Series Premise of The Light Thrower

What happens when a mid-thirties female in suburban Atlanta realizes she’s bored? An acquaintance gets murdered, ominous men enter her life, and she starts to hunt for ‘Scouts’…because if she doesn’t, they might kill her, or worse: use her as The Weapon. Add in a putrid pug named Phang, a cat with a watchful eye named Barnaby, endearing female friends and two ridiculously magnetic brothers she finds herself sandwiched between, well, you’ll find out what happens When Violet Got Bored.

Violet realizes she cannot escape destiny of her own making, and is forced to make a decision that will not only affect her, but all of those she loves. Will she continue to be hunted by those who think they can control her and more frighteningly so, The Bullet? Tonally different than the first novel, find out what happened When Violet Took Flight.

The final novel will explore Amara’s rise to ultimate power.

A mystical adventure full of humor and poignancy.

“I quite enjoyed the first person, this is a day in my life, narrative that is present at the beginning, and progresses to, this is the day of my life, as the story moves along.

Prepare to be guided through Violet’s mystical adventure with copious amounts of humor and poignancy, adroitly crafted into a captivating read.

The plot is interwoven with references to a number of well-known literatures. Another plus is that you can flip to the back pages for an explanation of subject matter covered in the book, including types of yoga, runes, and even a breathing exercise.”

A unique story with something for everyone

“Bored is only for the title. When Violet Got Bored is any but and the pages within are sure to have something for everyone. From murder to magic to witty dialogue in-between, allison has crafted a unique and entertaining story. Violet and the supporting cast were well-developed and I highly enjoyed the dialogue throughout. The added bonus to me finishing this story now is that I don’t have long to wait for book 2. Though this is about Voliet, I highly recommend checking out allison’s other works Phenix and Fox and The Hauntings of DoG Street. A great writer with amazing stories.”
